Why Do We Miss People Who Are No Longer in Our Lives? – Asadullah Galib Al Sadi

There are people we no longer speak to but still remember.

Sometimes years can pass without a conversation, yet a familiar song, a place or an ordinary moment can suddenly bring that person back to our thoughts.

Memory does not always follow logic. We may remember a person's voice, the way they laughed or a small conversation that seemed unimportant at the time.

Perhaps this happens because people become part of our personal history. They are connected to particular periods of our lives, and remembering them also means remembering who we were during that time.

Not every person who leaves our life leaves because of an argument. Sometimes people simply move in different directions. Circumstances change, priorities change and life becomes different.

There are also relationships that end without a proper goodbye. Those can be especially difficult because the mind keeps creating questions that may never receive answers.

Missing someone does not necessarily mean that we should return to the past. It may simply mean that the past mattered.

Some memories are not invitations to go backward. They are reminders of what we experienced, what we learned and how much we have changed.

People may disappear from our daily lives, but certain moments can remain quietly alive inside us.

Perhaps that is one of the strange gifts of memory.
