Are You Nowhere, or Just Hiding from Me?

I searched for you—
In the delicate curves of art,
In the simple truths of life,
In the hush of the midnight air.

In the hopes of the hopeless,
In the longing nests of birds,
In the whispers of trembling leaves—
Everywhere, only for you.

I sought you—
In the footprints of memories,
In the verses of poets,
In the pulse of old traditions,
In the laws that shape a nation.

I looked for you—
By the wedding altar,
On the mossy pond steps,
In the ember glow of a burning cigarette.
Through mornings, afternoons, dusks, and fading twilights,
Through the pages of time—
Yet you remained unseen.

In the sweetness of coconut confections,
In the artistry of ancient hands,
In the last leaf of a forgotten calendar,
Between the inked lines of a weathered diary—
Nowhere, yet everywhere.

In the ache of a mother’s tears,
In the shimmer of a queen’s emeralds,
In the scent of home-cooked meals—
Still, you were missing.

Where are you?
Are you tangled in the roots of a dying tree?
Or drifting as a cosmic voyager,
Sailing light-years beyond my reach?
Or have you sunk into the silent depths of the Atlantic,
Where the waves keep their secrets?

Where are you?
In the echoes of my heartbeat,
In the frost-laden hush of winter,
In the restless hum of a passing train—
Yet, I find you nowhere.

Tell me—
Are you truly lost,
Or just playing hide and seek with my soul?
