Let the Mirror Chambers perish

The existence of "mirror chambers" in Bangladesh, as depicted in Al Jazeera’s documentary All the Prime Minister’s Men, is an undeniable reality. Even more striking is the fact that the mirror chambers in Agargaon, Kachukhet, and Uttara still appear unchanged. In fact, their appearance has become even more refined and alluring.

Today, the Chief Advisor and members of his advisory council visited these mirror chambers (Aynaghor). Victims and journalists accompanied them. After the visit, Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus stated, “The Awami League government established an era of darkness/ignorance (Ayam-e-Jahiliyyah) in this country, erasing all traces of humanity.”

Touring the detention facilities, Professor Yunus told reporters, “It’s a horrifying sight. A scene of sheer brutality.”
He added, “No matter how much I hear, it still feels unbelievable. Is this truly our world, our society? The victims are part of our society. We heard their stories. What happened here defies explanation.”
Professor Yunus noted that victims were abducted without cause or crime. They were thrown into these chambers under the pretext of being terrorists or militants.
"Such torture cells exist all over the country. Initially, we thought only a few were here. Now, we are hearing that they exist nationwide in various forms. Their exact number remains unknown," he said.

Revealing the mirror chambers is not our ultimate goal. What’s more crucial is to bring the masterminds, controllers, and enforcers of these chambers under the law and ensure their severe punishment. But will the perpetrators ever face justice? Or will politics, following the formula of past governments, remain unscathed?

We demand legal reforms to prevent anyone from seizing power for personal gain. No one should be able to abduct or imprison others to serve their interests or exact vengeance.

Laws must be orderly, people-centric, and citizen-friendly. Why should humans descend into such cruelty and savagery—where they, bearing the title of "human," confine others in secret dungeons and subject them to inhumane torture?

Since the interim government was established through the July uprising, we have only one expectation: do not dwell on the crimes against humanity of previous regimes. Instead, demonstrate what humanitarian actions you will take in this new era. Let us see your commitment so that we may distinguish you from the rest. Let us find a reason to support and admire you.

In this era of advanced AI, no one’s actions will remain hidden. Everything will be exposed, sooner or later. Our time on this earth is fleeting—let us commit ourselves to good deeds. Only our actions will endure, not hatred, revenge, or resentment.

Let all architects of Aynaghors perish.
May truth and beauty find their freedom in civilization.
