I got aware and enlightened by Aqueeb Safwan Jaser's Tong Poetry book 'Mad Noiseless Creacendos' few years ago. This time I got up close and personal with his prose.
The young author has created five short stories here. Since the pieces are short and basically more of a character bound by nature, I would not rather spoil these by revealing more here.
There are plenty of emotional journeys through the 73 pages of this book. The writer takes us to the dystopian future where love might shower, subtly. Someone catching a quick Uber gets some much needed unique insights from the driver.
'Prayer of a Pariah' is my favorite story. How outcasts such as failures, drug addicts or Hijras can have immense empathy among each other. And what kind of belittling cruelty from ordinary people seems so normal to many of us, has been potrayed nicely.
Aqueb Safwan Jaser is of young age, his observation is keen, writing is fluent, philosophy has its originality. Whether it's his Tong Poetry or his very own written fiction, his writing comes from his life experience.
How would you be able to write something which you can't feel?
