New 4

  • Waiting for a first reader — most new stories never hear a word back. A new shelf on the homepage and the Feed shows stories from the last two weeks that nobody has commented on yet, with the whole list at First readers (/first-readers). Everyone sees a different mix, so readers spread out instead of all heading for the same few stories.
  • First reader bonus — be the first to leave a thoughtful comment on one of those stories and you earn 20 to 40 XP on the spot. The longer a story has waited, the more it's worth: 20 XP on its first day, 5 more each day after, up to 40. A comment counts when it's at least 12 words, written for that story, and left after you've spent a little time reading it. The comment box shows a word count and a short reading timer so you know when you're there. Replies and your own stories don't count, and you can earn up to three bonuses a day.
  • Three new honours — First Reader for your first one, Lamplighter for 10, and Keeper of New Voices for 50.
  • Writers: when your new story is still waiting, its comment box tells you it's on the shelf and how much its first reader will earn.

Fixed 1

  • Only a comment's own writer (or a moderator) can delete it.
