Poetry for Palestine Conference was held jointly by National Poetry Stage and Cultural Center, Iran Embassy. Poets and writers from different districts of Bangladesh participated in the conference held on October 26, (Saturday) at Engineer Institute in Dhaka. Poetry for Palestine Awards were presented to the winning poets of the Poetry for Palestine Poetry Competition at the event. At this time, international poet and researcher Dr. S M Shahnoor was also given this prestigious award.
Multidimensional writer and researcher S M Shahnoor was born on September 8, 1979 in a Muslim family in Ballavpur village under Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district. He has been writing poetry and stories since childhood. During his student life, he was a very bright student who topped every exam. Masters in Sociology (MSS) and Higher Technology from Marine and Warfare Academy of China. He has published several books including research, travel, biography, history-tradition and poetry. He is a Bangladeshi poet of the international anthology THE BOOK OF HYPERPOEM included in the Guinness Book of World Records. His writings have been translated into 30 languages of the world and are regularly published in various magazines and periodicals of the country and abroad. American University of Milford- USA awarded him an Honorary Doctorate (D Litt) degree (in International Literature) for presenting poetry on child rights and his own culture beautifully in the international arena through original writings. This young poet dedicated to creative work is currently serving as the literary editor of the national daily Oishi Bangla.
Poet and researcher Mahmudul Hasan Nizami presided over the program as the chief guest. AFM Khalid Hossain, ( Religious Advisor) Ambassador of Iran Seyed Reza Mir Mohammadi was present as the initiator. Special guest was Rajuk Chairman Major General Mr. Ehteshamul Haque, Professor Dr. Shah Kawsar Mustafa Abul Ulai, Department of Philosophy, University of Dhaka. Politician and media personality Mr. Mojibur Rahman, literary editor of Daily Oishi Bangla. S M Shahnoor and others. In addition, various officials of the Iranian Embassy and prominent poets and writers of the country.
