Dear Leader, You may momentarily sustain your rule -bolstered by the blessings of Western imperialist powers and their servile far-right allies -but you will never capture the hearts of the humane and conscious masses. History will not honor you as a beloved leader; instead, your regime will resonate as one rejected and discarded to the wastelands of time.
Your course seems hauntingly familiar -echoing the footsteps of rulers who were once driven from the streets by the very people they governed. Why, then, do you advance toward such an inevitable fate?
Yet within your grasp lies a rare and powerful opportunity -to tactfully defy hegemonic forces both at home and abroad, and to implement foundational reforms in the nation’s political and judicial systems. You could become one of those rare statesmen -not merely a holder of power, but a true guardian of public trust.
However, paralyzed by fear of your reactionary right-wing supporters, you hesitate even to embrace the recommendations of a gender reform commission. Political and economic transformation seems like a distant mirage.
In the field of education, your silence speaks volumes. The poisonous tree of narrow, religion-based pedagogy -once nurtured under state protection -has now taken deep root in our national consciousness, distorting the pluralistic and tolerant spirit of Bengali culture. Yet you had the power to plant the seeds of a rational, scientific, and humanistic education system. That hope, too, is fading.
We had envisioned you as a statesman of rare destiny -a torchbearer on the nation’s path, one we would carry on our shoulders with honor and pride.
But will you instead become a figure of deep regret -one who let his greatest potential wither away?
Even so -we still believe that despite all risks, you can lead this nation toward a truly free, fair, peaceful, and widely accepted election through necessary political reforms. That alone could become the final luminous glow of hope in your legacy.
May the pages of your duty and deeds be etched in history as a golden chapter -this remains our prayer.
Sincerely,
Fardeen Ferdous
A devoted citizen and
A politically conscious marginal voice
