Comments

Comments are how the community talks about posts. Here's what you need to know.

Posting a comment

  • Scroll to the Comments section under any post.
  • Type your comment (12–220 characters) and hit Send.
  • You must be logged in to comment.

The 30-second cooldown

To keep spam down, you can post at most one comment per post every 30 seconds. The cooldown is per post — commenting on another post is always allowed immediately.

Conversations are never throttled. If someone replies to you, the cooldown is skipped and you can respond right away.

Editing a comment

  • You can edit your own comment within 2 minutes of posting it.
  • Click Edit next to your comment, change the text, and Save.
  • After 2 minutes the edit button disappears.

Deleting a comment

  • Click the trash icon next to your own comment to delete it.

Linking posts in comments

You can reference another post safely:

Check out /posts/42 — it's great!

Any /posts/{id} or /posts/{slug} reference renders as a clean clickable link automatically. External website links are not allowed — comments containing them may be flagged as spam and hidden.

What gets flagged as spam

The automatic spam filter hides comments that contain:

  • External links (e.g. http://..., www....)
  • Promotional keywords ("free download", "buy now", "bitcoin", "earn money", etc.)
  • Gibberish — long random letter strings

Flagged comments are hidden from the post page but kept for moderation. If a comment of yours was hidden by mistake, edit it to remove the offending text.

Reporting a comment

  • See something inappropriate? Click Report under the comment, choose a reason, and add a short description.
  • Moderators review reports. Please only report genuine problems — not comments you simply disagree with.

Voting on comments

Every comment has up/down arrows. Upvote comments that are helpful; downvote comments that are unhelpful or off-topic. Comment votes help surface the best conversation (see Voting).
