A Web Fiction is a short, complete story told in exactly four parts. It goes live all at once, so readers can finish it in one sitting. Ordinary books are unchanged — a Web Fiction is just a different way to publish.
From time to time we run a campaign that celebrates Web Fiction: while it is on, reading, liking, commenting and publishing earn bonus XP and limited-edition honours.
Reading a Web Fiction
Web Fictions open in their own focused reader.
- The part rail at the top shows Parts I to IV — done, current and still to read. Tap a part to jump to it.
- The thin line under the rail shows how far through the current part you are.
- Next part moves on. On a phone it waits at the bottom of the screen once you are past halfway. The ← and → keys work on a computer.
- Aa opens the reading settings: text size and page colour (paper, white or espresso). They are remembered on your device.
- After the last part, The End offers Like, Save, Share (copy the link, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger), a comment on the whole story, and more stories to read.
Each part also has a Discuss this part drawer for comments on just that part.
Writing one
- In Write → New Book, tick This is a Web Fiction. It is free and always marked complete. You can only change this before you publish a chapter.
- Write four chapters in the Studio — a fifth cannot be added.
- Publish all four. The story goes live once the fourth part is published; it stays hidden until then.
- While a campaign is on, the Studio shows Enter “{campaign}”. Tick it to take part. Untick it any time to leave.
Campaign XP
Amounts are set per campaign; these are the usual ones.

A few rules keep it fair:
- Reading counts while you are reading. The 30 seconds only run while the page is open in front of you and you are scrolling, tapping or typing. The ring around the current part fills as you go, then a short “+2 XP” appears.
- Your own story earns you nothing as a reader — but you earn the publish reward for it.
- If a story or comment is later removed as spam, the XP it earned is taken back.
- When a campaign is switched off or ends, XP and honours already earned are yours to keep; nothing new is paid.
Limited-edition honours
Each campaign has its own honours, such as Opening Page, Four-Part Reader, Campaign Regular, Campaign Voice, Campaign Heart, Web Weaver and Full Set. They can only be earned while the campaign is on, are marked Limited edition on the Achievements page, and stay on your profile for good.
Questions
“I read a part but got no XP.”
You need 30 active seconds on the part, the story must be in a live campaign, and it must not be your own. You are paid once per part — reopening it earns nothing more.
“The campaign banner has gone.”
The campaign ended or was switched off. Web Fictions stay published as normal.
