Contributor Guide

This guide ties everything together for contributors — the writers and sellers who make Fiction Factory what it is.

Your workflow at a glance

  1. Write — publish original posts (see Writing Posts).
  2. Engage — comment and upvote to build your community (see Comments and Voting).
  3. Earn — sales generate royalties (see Earnings & Withdrawals).
  4. Grow — achievements, XP, and followers (see Achievements & XP).

Building your profile

Your public profile (/contributor/{id}) is what readers see:

  • Profile photo & name — make it recognizable.
  • Bio & work — tell readers who you are and what you write about.
  • Achievements — your earned badges show here; they build trust.
  • Follower count — followers see your new posts.

Grow your followers

  • There's a Follow button on every profile.
  • When you follow someone, they get notified.
  • Follow others in your niche — many will follow back, and follow counts feed into achievements (Community Builder, Networking Pro, Super Connector).

Making your posts sell

  • Set a clear price and use a premium preview so buyers can sample.
  • Featured images dramatically improve click-through.
  • Categories matter — the right category puts your post in front of the right readers.
  • Views → sales. The Widely Read / Viral Sensation / Legend achievements reward posts that get viewed, which is the top of your funnel.

The points economy

Everything you do earns or moves points:

  • Your posts earn +10 per upvote (and lose −5 per downvote).
  • Your votes give points to others and cost you 2 points per downvote.
  • Achievements award bonus XP.

Points aren't just a score — they drive your level and unlock achievements. See Voting & Points for the exact numbers.

Keeping your account healthy

  • Don't spam — the spam filter hides promotional posts/comments, and spammy usernames are blocked at signup.
  • Don't self-vote — you can't upvote your own content, and the system catches vote manipulation.
  • Report genuinely bad content — it keeps the platform worth writing for.
  • Keep your payment details current so withdrawals never bounce.

Where to get help

  • Notifications — the bell keeps you informed of every reply and vote.
  • This documentation — each feature has its own page in the sidebar.
  • If something looks wrong (e.g. a post of yours was flagged by mistake), edit it to fix the issue — it becomes visible again.
