Writing Posts

Posts (articles) are the heart of Fiction Factory. Here's how to write, publish, and manage yours.

#Creating a post

1. Click Write → New Post in the top navigation bar.
2. Give it a title — it also becomes the slug readers see in the URL.
3. Write the content in the editor. Headings, bold, italic, lists and links are all available from the toolbar. A local draft of your work is kept as you type.
4. Fill in the panel on the right: category, tags, related posts, a preview and hook, publishing status, monetization and a featured image (see below).
5. Click Publish.

Your post is live immediately and appears on the homepage, All Posts, and its category.

Note on approvals: posts are published instantly. We only moderate for spam — promotional or SEO-bait titles/content may be hidden automatically (see Post Moderation).

#The writing checklist

As you write, a live checklist in the settings panel tracks what tends to help a post get read:

1. A title that makes readers want to click.
2. 200 words or more — the counter updates as you type and turns green once you clear the threshold.
3. A preview text added.
4. A category chosen.

None of these are required to publish — they're guidance, not gates.

#Category, tags & related posts

• Category — choose the section your post belongs to, so readers browsing by section find it.
• Tags — add a few so the right readers find it in search and tag pages.
• Related posts — search by title and pick up to 4 posts to show readers at the end of yours. Leave this empty and we'll surface similar posts automatically (same category or same author).

#Preview & hook

• Preview text is the excerpt readers see before they click — write one that pulls them in.
• Draft a hook generates a preview and an SEO-friendly excerpt for you from the post's content. It unlocks once you've written at least 200 words, and the button shows how many more words you need until then.

#Draft or published

Keep a post as Draft while you work on it, or set it to Published to send it live immediately — there's no approval queue. You can flip it back to Draft at any time from the same panel.

#Monetization

1. Turn on Premium post to lock the full piece for paying readers, then choose a price. Everyone can read the preview text; only paying readers see the rest.
2. Reader Bounty (optional): stake some of your own XP as a reward for the first N readers who open the post. Set the XP per reader, how many readers qualify, and an optional expiry date — unclaimed XP is refunded to you automatically once it expires. See Achievements & XP for how XP works.

#Featured image

If you can upload images, add a cover here — it appears on cards and at the top of the post. Not every account has this permission.

#Editing a post

• Go to My Posts, find your post, and click Edit — it opens in the same editor described above.
• You can also delete a post from the same screen.

#Post visibility

• Your post appears in My Posts immediately.
• Public readers see it on the homepage, All Posts, and its category.
• If a post is flagged as spam (by the automatic checker or by readers), it is hidden from the public — but you can still view and fix your own post (see Post Moderation).

#Sharing your post

Each post has a unique URL like /posts/42. Share it anywhere. When you reference another post in a comment, you can link it with /posts/42 — it renders as a clean clickable link automatically.

#Writing tips that help you earn

• Original work gets upvoted — and upvotes earn you points (see Voting).
• A good featured image makes your post stand out in listings.
• Clear titles get more views; views count toward achievements like Widely Read and Viral Sensation.
• Write consistently — comment and engage, and the community will find you.
